Starting in Pragelato, we will head up towards the Val Troncea following the Nordic ski trails of the Torino 2006 Winter Olympics to reach the villages of Laval and Joussaud, with their typical buildings of stone and wood.
The larch forest gets less and less dense as we climb, letting us admire the 360-degree panorama from the arrival of the old chairlift at the Clot della Soma. The climb gets even harder from there on, forcing us to pull the bike on some section to get over the Colle del Pis and enter the rocky amphitheatre enclosed by the walls of Mount Albergian. A short descent and a last climb drive us on the Colle dell’Albergian, the highest point in our tour.
A fantastic descent with a huge variety of terrains waits for us: flow sections alternate to more technical ones, sequences of close-up switchbacks follow linear trails, stones leave place to the woods, until we reach the little lake of Laux, never getting off the bike.
It would be a pity to go back to Pragelato on the asphalt road, so we will choose the trails and gravel roads that leads us to the starting point far from cars and traffic on a peaceful path.
Thanks to our bike shuttle service, it is possible to reduce the transfers on the valley floor, with a minor physical effort without losing the best of this wonderful tour.
